Today I saw in the news that another homeless man has been beating to a pulp here in South Florida. This is the 3rd case, and I'm sure everyone heard about the teenagers who beat a homeless man to death.
What's going on with people these days? I would never, ever hurt anyone or anything more vulnerable or less fortunate than I. What's going on?

The world is changing too fast. Kids are growing up too quickly. I'm 17. Most of my friends are drinking, all of my friends are having sex and a large number of them are taking drugs. And I don't even hang out with a 'bad' crowd - these are the respectible kids that get good grades. A few of them are pregnant, and one girl has just been diagnosed with aids after having sex with a married man, who will now probably pass the disease onto his wife. With so much in their lives, kids look to the media - music, culture, movies - and they see something feasable and touchable, and that thing is blood on their hands. It's not right, and it's a terrible sign of the state of society, but when you've got shows like Trisha and Opera looking at just a small section of society and you see how messed up they all seem to be, it's no wonder we're starting to see that kind of behaviour becoming more widespread, especially when such shows glorify it so much.

It was always considered (as I understand) 'cool' to smoke and drink and have sex. But when you look back at when your parents were young and think that they were doing that and were cool, you want to take it to another level. Concerningly, that other level seems to be violence.

I'm in a similar position as you - i'm horrified at what is happening in the world, and I could never partake of some of the disgusting things that are happening. More and more children are growing up around violence. We've got war, and moral discomfort. Kids don't respect their elders any more, and we don't look to specific values or norms. We're the MTV generation, and we're cold-hearted and cold-blooded. It's a shame to see such a gifted and blessed generation go to waste.

Not to wax religious, but the Bible does mention that in the last days people will become more selfish, and uncaring. The bad news is that we're are only seeing the beginning what is yet to come.

Some people feel so bad about themselves and/or their lives that the only way they think they can feel better is to hurt someone else. The world is becoming a sick and twisted place without God.

I know
I met a gorgeous girl and asked her for sex,
her answer was so cruel and malcious,
I could not bring myself to repeat it on here,
Just be nice, and say Yes, make the world a better place.

Don't be so Naive,

Things like this happen every day and now you hear about them.

If it bothers you switch your news source.
Some sources target these kind of stories. Some do not
