I just turned 15 a few weeks ago. while watching anime my father told it abut time i stop watching " the stupid plastic **** cartoons"
i was saddened because i love anime... I like drawing anime, collecting those cards and etc. But my father keeps on insisting i should stop it beacuase i'm too old he even burned my whole anime collection ( it consited of anime franchise, MANGA) to teach me a lesson. What can i do to prove to him i like anime and there is no age limit? ( i started collecting again but i'm hiding it now)

Burn something of his that children are allowed to enjoy.
It's pretty much unacceptable that he's dictating your interrests to you. At 15 your parents should be encouraging you learn more about things that interrest you rather than criticizing you. If you get good grades and are helpful at home it should matter if you like to suck on a pacifier. Tell your Father his opinion about Anime needs to change to reflect reality, there are otaku in their 40's and they make good money to support their expensive habbits. There would be older people who watch anime but it just hasn't been in mainstream media that long. Invite him to watch with you or tell him to leave you alone.

I'm not a huge advocate of hiding things from parents, but this is an exception. Maybe he doesn't realize, and I'm thinking he doesn't really want to hear, that many of those behind the anime programs are adults. They probably got their start when they were about your age, doing the same thing you are doing, like drawing. Those people probably make pretty darn good money doing it, too! If he's so adamant he burned your collection, you're probably not going to convince him. His mind is made up.

Besides, you aren't harming anything. Have at it and have fun. Just don't let dad know.

Heck no hon...you are never too old for either anime or cartoons...if that was the case I would have been kicked the the head by a mule years ago...
Plus it is a legitimate collection...adults collect the cards because they are worth money...you could tell him that if you was are collecting them because they are an investment and you have to watch the shows for the current trends and to see who is popular and who is not...now how much more adult and responsible can ya get?
PS You are probably gonna laugh but I am a huge Curious George fan.

Anime is the artform of cartoons. However you have to discern between good anime and cartoons that seem like anime. After all, anime isn't just about fanciful figures and big eyed characters.

Get a really good anime, a movie, for your father to watch.
No one is too old to watch anime. Anime is something you can appreciate for it's execution styles and fine details.

You are never too old for anything! Your father lost his childhood in his past years. You look like you are one step away to enter to college. After high school graduation, get all your things and go to the college/university of your choice. I would recommend taking him to a convention of anime, but we don't want him to turn into a violent protestor and beating up those poor cosplayers. Just do what I said before and don't forget about your future! That's also at stake!

Of course not. I will be turning 16, and I still watch Japanese anime and American cartoons. I collect my favorite shows' collectibles. My father just smiles when I buy those things.
