In philosophy and religion, there can't be absolute truth without absolute contrast. God is the standard for all good--and anything which is not of His standard is not good. There is no in-between, no partial goodness--gray, if you will. If there were no moral absolutes, this world would be unimaginably worse. The problem with the world today is that most people have rejected moral absolutes--God's truth--and they try to find some kind of middle ground that doesn't exist. Does that mean we should rebel against God to understand the contrast between good and evil, black and white, etc.? I wouldn't recommend it.

white is the presence of every visible color as it reflects all the colors it's exposed to. black is the absence of colors because it tends to absorb every color (and light) it's exposed to. this would be their major contrasts.
