I cannot see anything in football ("soccer") to make it worth spending the vast amount it costs to buy tickets. Why do you do it?

IMO, it's down to a sense of camaraderie; you follow a team through thick and thin, and sometimes defend them to the point of stupidity. As a Liverpool fan living in London (I have an excuse, I lived there for a while when I was a kid!), my excursions up to Fortress Anfield are few and far between, mainly because of the expense, but I'll be up there at least 6 times a season and they'll always be my team. It's always interesting to follow your team's progress, keep up to date and have (occasionally) heated "discussions" with those who don't support the same team. On top of that, the fact that I play football myself (albeit at a very low level) helps me maintain the pipe dream of someday getting onto the hallowed turf and scoring the winner against ManUre in front of the Kop.

I like football, but I totally agree about the prices. I can never understand how people who claim benefits can afford to buy season tickets when hardworking fans can`t afford to. Weird huh?
I can`t afford a season ticket, so that makes me an armchair supporter :-)

I bet you spend money on things that I would never purchase. Football tribal and is a way of expression and is something that most men enjoy watching/playing and discussing.

Ps its not "soccer" if you want to seperate it from US / AU games call it Association Football

Its a great game. Its just not the same watching it on tv. I recently went to Anfield (being a liverpool fan) and when the kop started singing you'll never walk alone, the hair on the back of my neck stood up!!! It was amazing. You don't get the full effect when you see it on tv.

I'm a gooner. I have loved them forever, but I agree the tickets are a bit pricey. But how else would they be able to build that lovely new stadium.
