Baliffs operate in a very dodgy area of the law as highlighted in recent press undercover reports. Basically they are there to bully you into paying monies owed.

Please contact your local citizens rights office or see if you are entitled to legal aid so that you are aware of your rights before things progress further.

Not these ones in particular but I have with other private bailiffs. They all seem to be the same in as much as they will not help with any enquiries at all and just come to the door to bully. Eventually they will give up but in the meantime just make sure you NEVER open the door to them and that you dont leave any windows open as that is the only legal way they can enter. Ignore any threats that they will return with police etc and break in - they can only do this if you have previously allowed them entry. Good luck

Bailifs are the lowest form of life, this was confirmed by the undercover report on TV last week. The advice given by others about not letting them in is very good as is the advice to contact the CAB.

Never let them enter your property. If they persist in threatening letters/phone calls, inform them they in breach of s2 of the protection from harrassment act.
