A legend told us how Rome was founded by Romulus, a son of the war god Mars.

Romulus had a twin brother called Remus, when they were little they were left to die by the river Tiber.

A she-wolf took the two boys and looked after them untill they were ready to leave.

The two boys founded a city by the river Tiber, In which time Romulus killed Remus in a quarrel, then the big bad brother called the city rome, after his name.

Rome at that time was just a collection of mud huts with thatched roofs, the huts stood on a hill calledPalatine hill which is near the river Tiber.

There were six hills nearby,as the years went by the villages grew larger.

All the villages joined together to become one town, this town was to become the city of Rome.

Romulus (c. 771 BC[1]—July 5, c. 717 BC) and Remus (c. 771 BC—April 21, c. 753 BC) are the traditional founders of Rome, appearing in Roman mythology as the twin sons of the priestess Rhea Silvia, fathered by the god of war Mars. According to the legend recorded as history by Plutarch and Livy, Romulus served as the first King of Rome.
The founding of Rome is reported by many legends, which in recent times are beginning to be supplemented by more scientific reconstructions.
