For a personal reason I was VERY down once. VERY DOWN. I just bought a bunch of comedy video's and they actually did the trick. Helped a lot.

Without knowing make upset you, hard to cheer you up.

If it was on a personal level, face up to it, talk it through with the person who upset you, explain it and why it upset you. If your own behaviour upset you, work out why it did, and resolve to change that part of your life.

If it was on a larger scale, face up to the fact that there is a lot going on in the world that you have no control over. Not that this means you can't do anything about it, just means it might take longer.

Whenever I feel low, I think about all the good things in my life, and how I came to the position I am in now. Sometimes I'll go for a long walk, and try to spot something that makes me feel good about living.

The mind can not tell the difference between what is a faked feeling and what is a real feeling.

Think back to a time when you laughed till your sides ached, or think of a time when you did something you loved, choose a memory that makes you smile.

Now stand up and imagine a happy person, stand like them, imagine what they are feeling, use the same expression they use.

Now smile, its impossible to smile, not only with your mouth but with your eyes too and feel bad at the same time.

Now go and hire a funny film or buy a funny book. Arrange to visit a comedy club with some friends.

Make a list of as many things as possible that make you smile or have made you happy in the past and write them down in big capital letters and bright colours and read them out loud.

Go and buy yourself a bunch of pretty coloured flowers and go for a walk or go shopping when you feel great.

Go and see the film Click, its meant to be very funny

Good Luck!

1) Listen to good music. Jazz, blues, soul, some classic
2) Get a bar of your favourite chocolate. Chocolate has mood enhancers.
3) Go for a walk in the countryside
4) Spend some time with friends. Talk things over with them.
5) Have a long bath

Sometimes a bad mood won't allow you to concentrate on comedy. The trick is to distract yourself and also you can add to that something that makes you feel better as well. I would start with simple things like saying hello to the person at the market or the bus driver ... you know, just "hello" and "how are you?" Don't get into your feelings at all; just say that you are fine. If you feel bad in one place go to another. I like to go out for a cup of coffee. But you may have tea. But, go somewhere and talk to people pleasantly as you can: "Hello, how are you? I will have a cup of tea, please." "Thank you." Lovely weather.... etc. that kind of thing. take a book or a pad and write a letter. You can make it to yourself but be nice. It is a rule of thumb not to write to anyone in a bad mood. But, you may write to yourself if you are nice. And, if you trust yourself to be pleasant and not to go blabbing how bad you feel you may write to someone else but don't sent it until you have held it for a day or two and reread it. But, cards are OK you know that have a nice sentiment and that you only need to sign. The thing is to concentrate on something other than yourself. If you think you would enjoy a movie go even better to treat a friend. Hey! makes me feel good. It is best not to be in a place that you feel bad and good to be with other people. That is just a start. There are books on this subject if you are depressed. I am not sure that is the case. If you are angry with your boyfriend or something that's a different thing but it may still be good to be with someone you can talk to. OK good luck

Doing the 'relaxation response' for 3-5 minutes can help: sit down in a comfortable chair, close your eyes, take 6 deep breaths thru your nose, letting your stomach rise. Then breathe naturally thru your nose, letting the stomach rise. While you're doing this, notice your body -- notice the air coming in and out of your nose - how it's cooler on the inhale and warmer on the exhale. Keep the calm breathing and notice your legs and let the muscles be completely relaxed and like loose rags totally supported by the chair/couch. Go to your stomach and let any tension unravel. Feel your arms go completely limp and like rags, totally limp and relaxed. Go back to the breathing and just relax.

We all have up and down days and I find the best way to cheer myself up is to think of the many blessings I have - food to eat, clothes to cover me, home for shelter, reasonably good health. Many do not have these.

I then decide to get out of my comfort zone and go and help someone in need. There are so many people about who could do with a helping hand. It needn't be in a big way - but to do something unexpected for someone like babysit children for a busy Mum, bit of gardening for someone, helping with some shopping, reading to someone elderly, visiting someone in hospital or a residential home, etc. All these will bring joy into their lives and will help you to overcome your own worries and upset.

Whatever you decide do hope you will soon be feeling more like yourself.

There is a saying if you meet someone without a smile give them one of yours. You could put a smile on your face go out and see how many people will smile in return - you will be surprised and that on its own should help cheer you up.

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE - LIVE IT.

Easy does it.

Live and let Live.

Let Go and Let God

Listen.

Keep it Simple.

If it is not broken why fix it?

It is the privilege of wisdom to listen. (O.W.Holmes)

Little by little I can change my world - not by escaping to a new one with the same old me, but by making a new me out of the old one.

When My thoughts are centered on learning to live, I will be less tempted to involve my mind with the thoughts of how others live.

Nothing on earth consumes a man more completely than the passion of resentment. (Friedrich Nietzsche)

How to cheer yourself really depends on why you are down... generally speaking, fixing that problem will restore your positive disposition.

if that doesn't work... here are a couple of movies I'd suggest:

Clue
History of the World Part I
Hoodwinked
The Ref
