the advice was "Beat her to him" ... that doesn't mean hit her ... it means get to the guy before the other girl does

Beat someone in a race means to get there 1st.

Boyfriends come, boyfriends go ... wait till her boyfriend goes then you go for him.

your friends are important. steal someone's boyfriend and you will have a hard time for many years

treat the guys and girls in your class like brothers and sisters.
