A friend of mine did this a few times, it used a laser setup, point to point, very secure 100%. Mail me if you want more details.

One would have to ask why you dont go wireless? There are point to point links available for the distance specified that can be licensed or unlicensed and are currently being rolled out on a corporate scale. My company sells these links and they provide high throughput at a fraction of the cost of the second option which is...

Leased lines. In the UK BT lease lines for about 16,000 GBP per year. These will give you a throughput of 2 mbps enough in general to connect Lans.

The first option is about 4000 GBP by comparisen. Check out http://www.radwin.com/ for information on wireless links.

If you have got a reasonable budget, you could use a Line Of Sight Radio (LOS) Siea do a really neat bit of kit that we use for connecting Emergency Shut Down links between Drilling Rigs and Production Platforms. Unfortunately you will also have to get a licence from Offcom, but you don't have to mess about with MultiPlexors, you connect it as data link. I suspect you ae going to have to go to an ISP and set up, as suggested above, a Virtual Private Network

you could string a cable between the 2. Seriously if you do not want to go wireless it involves a cable.

Create a network over the internet.

get a local networking company to lay down a cable between the 2 buildings.

Fibre Optic is expensive, Laser is fine as long as the beam is not degraded. Fog does this. You could use Microwave but Wireless is the better option.
