People asked the same question about wolves in Britain. They concluded that the answer was no. As a result the British wolf population was wiped out. This resulted in an increase in the deer population who now has no natural preditor (other than man) to keep its numbers in check, and humans complain. Then you have the arguement of ethics and methodology regarding the culling of deer. Every animal that exists, does so because it has its own ecological niche to fill. Without these animals the balance of flora and fauna populance would become unstable which would result in dramatic increase in one species at the cost of other species populations.

Foxes rely heavily on rabbits and small rodents as a large part of their diet. Without foxes, the number of rodents and rabbits would increase dramatically. Without foxes rodents and rabbits (rabbits particularly) would become massively over populated which would result in the decline of various plant species (these animals have to eat to survive and reproduce). You might think this has nothing to do with you, but if a massive increase in the rabbit populance results in your crops being desimated, you will be the first to kick up a stink about it.

The human race has caused enough damage on this planet. For a species that is supposed to be intelligent, humans seem to have difficulty learning from their mistakes, and it is usually because some selfish plonker high up in the chain of command decides that a rash decision won't affect them. Or in some cases they have been driven to make stupid mistakes by the ignorance of the general public (in the name of democracy) who have cried out for blood because nature won't do what they want it to do.

In answer to your question- yes we do need foxes. Whether or not foxes need humans is probably something else :p

Foxes aren't even native to this country, neither are rabbits. They were brought over from France in the hundred years war specifically to be hunted.
And foxes don't eat rats, not healthy ones anyway.
If people want native animals in this country bring back the wolf, the bear and the wild boar.

honestly, are you asking these questions because you like others thinking of you as an a-hole. Foxes are part of an ecological chain and if you take away one link the whole thing falls apart so yes, we do need foxes what we don't need is people like you who get their jollies watching a poor defenseless animal being torn to pieces. Grow a heart why don't you!!

All animals were put on this earth for a reason, personally i love watching foxes, they are sleek and beautiful animals, they are not vermin, contrary to what people like you believe. They are part of a beautiful nature and should be left well alone. Allow them to leave just the way we do.

WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!

you just asked about hunting foxes now do we really need them?! it is a life a living and breathing creature do we really need some humans? yes and were not going round killing people because we don't like them! Animals deserve the right to live freely if they are wild and to be left in peace! you don't see people killing the lions & tigers abroad question yourself on that do we really need them?! Why do we need anything? Everything on this planet has a reason for being here so stop asking inhumane questions!!!!!!!!!!!!
