Don't get ripped off. Vit C can be bought cheap in powder form for almost nothing. Vit C is Vit C, none is better than another. In its natural state, say in an orange, it may easily have things that go with it to add to the effect, but in isolated form it is just Vit C.

The L- form is the bioactive form of vitamin C. The D-form is just so much stuff the body must get rid of. Synthetic ascorbic acid contains equal amounts of L- and D- forms. Natural sources of vitamin C contain only the L- form.

The reccommended daily intake prescribed is 60 mg. This will only prevent you from scurvy. The actual requirement if still higher around 200mg/day. If one can manage this intake through food and fruits it should be prefered. Half ripe fruits generally contain higher levels of Vit.C and it lowers down as the fruit ripens. But remember that human being is one of the four mammalian species that cannot manufacture its own requirement of Vit C and external source is essential.
