my ipod is supposed to be charging/updating.
the bar is fully green with the bolt through it but still says do not disconnect. is it charged, can i disconnect?

Your ipod should automatically go into "just charging" mode automatically after it updates. I'm telling you...it will not do this if you have the "enable disk use" box checked. It will continue to say "do not disconnect" even after it's finished updating because it's waiting for you to put something else on it, i.e. use it as an external hard drive. Go into your ipod preferences in itunes and uncheck that box. Then resync your ipod (under "file"). It will work.
BTW it will also charge more efficiently because it's not sitting there spinning the internal hard drive.

When it is fully charged it will show a plug. You will need to eject your Ipod from either Itunes or from the removable disk/hardware icon in your toolbar to the lower right. It will show "Do not Disconnect" as long as you have it plugged into your computer and not internally ejected.

If you are connected to itunes ( the program on your computer) there should be an icon showing your ipod connected, next to it should be an 'eject' icon, press that. It should then be safe to remove.
