this doesn't hurt.the doctor puts a lubricant on a gloved finger and feels inside for lumps,polyps.etc.you may feel nervous but you will not empty your bowels thats just all in the mind, honest.it only lasts a few seconds and the doctor will have seen it all before probably daily!in my case the doctor had to but abit of air inside the rectum, this bit is abit uncomfortable as it causes tummy cramps and you feel like you want to fart but you don't!anyway if you did the doctor tells you before hand not to worry if you do as he's heard it all before.it really is nothing to worry about, even if you have to have a colonoscopy theres nothing to it! good luck!

It is a very simple procedure. The physician puts on a glove and then applies some lubricating jelly to her (or his) finger which she (he) gently inserts into the rectum. The physician is making sure there's nothing unusual inside your rectum. The exam itself lasts only about a minute or two. It should not be uncomfortable. Doctors don't go eeewww when they see a fat a**. Believe me,. yours won't be the first.

If you're talking about a colonoscopy, they will sedate you and you won't feel a thing or care what they are doing. If that's what you have to have, you will also be prescribed some powder that will be mixed with water, and you have to drink all of that within a certain amount of time. It will make you go to the bathroom repeatedly, so you'll want to be staying home. That will cleanse your colon so they can see if there is anything wrong, like polyps, etc.
Don't worry. Docs are soooo used to seeing butts, one's just like the next. And it sounds gross, but I was the first test one day, and when I was being prepped for the test, my doctor was standing there finishing his breakfast! Yuck!

Women don't generally get rectals during a physical. Why would you think a trained professional would say "eeewww?" Sounds gross but put a glove on & try it. You should be asking the doctor these questions.

If this is part of a routine physical - its NO BIG DEAL - relax - - it's a glove finger with K-Y jelly into your rectum to check for abnormalities that can be felt. It lasts about a minute and is less traumatic overall than the whole pelvic exam - because it is just a part of it.

your rectum is in touch of direction, plenty so as that the owner of the rectum could be emotional approximately it its ok. however the well-being practitioner seeing the rectum tho in touch heavily isn't so emotional approximately it, this is in basic terms a job, eh - your rectum is, so no concern. this is gross of direction, so no ask your self there i hate to snigger

My colleague had it last week. She said no pain at all because hospital gave her the anodyne. Don't worry too much if you need to do it. Call the hospital in advance to get the details you need.
