the basic principles of Gandhiism are not difficult to follow in our life, they are truth, simplicity, honesty, and ahimsa (non-violence). The last one is the most discussed about, mostly because we live in a very violent world. It is difficult to remain non-violent in such a world.

But Gandhijee's life and his examples prove that injustice and violence can be opposed through peaceful means too. His principle was to win the enemy's heart, and make him feel that he is wrong and thereby changing his attitude. Gandhijee knew that he is faced by a very violent and strong enemy...the British empire. Through many examples he exposed the true face of British rule in India, make the English feel that they are oppressive.

So, basically we can practice most of the principles of Gandhijee in our lives, remaining non violent in front of a violent enemy is the most discussed and questionable, my opinion is that the principle of non-violence should be practiced from a case to case basis. Individually one can remain non-violent.

Its all in the hands of parents how they want their kids to be. If they are so much inspirational with Gandhiji's work they can teach their kid the same and which may lay the seed to practice Gandhiji's principle. If not parents the school institution or any other charity organization can do this.

Want to Practise "Gandhijis Principles":
no one can change overnight, hence i do not expect none of us to change the world in a day. But yes we can make a beginning.
1- See that you do your best, I mean really dedicated work towards Quality-Work, it may be hard but do it.

2-If you do any work, whether in office Home or in transit; make sure you do not waste anything unfinished, unclean, do not litter anything,

3- Do not 'expect' or 'presume', your unfinished unfulfilled task to be completed by some one else.

4- When something goes wrong, answer to problem lies within, so the more efforts you put in searching the self. You shall discover problems were laid by none of the else but by you 'yourselves'.

Yes it may seem funny but it holds a lot, consider you were tired, and you decided I will stretch my back for an 1/2 an hour, but you overslept. the time you over slept, was "waste of Time". Time is very important kindly spend it wisely. do not rest on somebody Else's expenses.

From now on I will be never away, from you, because you are not only you but includes me also. Next Friday we will take second step.
put forward your questions of mind. we shall attain it "Together", to find an solution.

Till then Peace be with You,
Yours- samdhan

Gandhiji, the father of our nation had practiced the simple principles of truth and non-violence throughout his life.Today we all are leading life in a complex web of tensions. There is a great atmosphere of dis-satisfaction and miseries everywhere. In such a situation it is the Gandhian principles that come to our rescue. The simple way of living based on truth is the key to happiness.Though it will be difficult to practice the principles, but we can give a try by reforming ourselves.Reducing our anger, respecting the people who help us in all form, making everybody smile, helping the needy, not giving and taking bribes, obeying our elders, listening to our heart, following our dreams but not forgetting our roots, loving our country are some of the ways in which we can make Gandhigiri work.We can do it and we must believe it.

By speaking truth. Gandhiji was respectable by indians because he knew very well what is right and what is wrong. In his initial days he learnt about truth from one incident, when he was 15 yrs old he has stolen gold from his home and he could not get a sleep on that night, he was thinking whole night and come to conclusion. and decided that he will not do any work which his soul does not allow.

So, the only way to practise Gandhiji's principles in our lives is TRUTH..................

Thanks

I admire Gandhijee's principles and way of life so much that I feel ashamed I can not follow them. Not because they are either irrelevant or impractical in today's world - I do not buy that argument at all, even at the time Gandhijee used them, everyone disbelieved their efficacy and were invariably surprised how effective they finally proved to be. It is only after a few successes that his leadership started gaining currency.
The reason I still can not follow them is simple - it is really very tough to follow them properly, that is without any dilution. These principles and way of life leave no margin for compromise whatsoever. In sticking to them through thin and thick, one has to make innumerable sacrifices. Gandhijee was truly Mahatma, so he could bear all those sacrifices.
I would rather feel ashamed saying I am not strong enough to follow those principles and way of life - than make a show of Gandhigiri which would undoubtedly corrupt and dilute the essence of what Gandhiji stood for and swore by.
That doesn't mean we do not follow at all. We do follow off and on, but are unable to do so consistently because of our weaknesses and not due to them having become outdated to any extent whatsoever.

Common People of this nation practise Gandhiji principle in day today life but we dont realize it. In rush to office if somebody slightly hits our vehicle we generally ignore it and move ahead. Similarly after every major terrorist attack we INDIANS take a look, feel sorry and move ahead. This is what he did in Dandi march. Gandhiji fought english rule nonviolently. We are today fighting with Terrorism and Corruption nonviolently. We are very hopeful people. With slow and steady nonviolent march in life we keep ourselves hopeful and think that somewhere down the line Corrupt politicians will be punished. This is why we all INDIANS say that climax of RANG DE BASANTI is not practical.

Well, the most fundamental idea behind Gandhi is to live a life which is in harmony, respect others,& avoid any type of arms this helps to make a person feel better and have lots of courage. A quote of gandhiji: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

First we know about gandhiji's principles & then we implement that principle in our life, by saying in our heart for every moment, we must obey the gandhiji's principles, and then we implement his principle in our life. this is the good way to practice gandhiji's
principles in our lives.
