It's a 2000 Ranger, and I'd like to do it myself, but need some instruction. All the sites I have read (and a couple maintanence references) say to loosen a sleeve near the tie rod end, but a picture is worth a thousand words!

You need a wheel alingment machine and a rack to lift the car.

do you have a repair book? it has rack & pinion there are lock nuts not sleves .they but up to the tie rod ends to keep them in place after CORRECT adjustment .
just tires has a good deal if not right for you take back up to i forget may varry state to state .
you can do it .get a repair book from a part store .

it's much better to have it done , unlsse you have the 'rack' with all the sensors to line everything up. If you start adjusting things you'll just get it all out of whack!
