Does anyone know what Glen Hoddle actually said about disabled people? Do you know if there is a link to the interview anywhere on the web?

I can remember he said something on the lines that we are paying for sins in previous lives and in his so called 'apology', he referred to us aas 'these people'. Does anyone have any more.

Also, on Richard and Judy the then Concervative leader William Hague refused to condemn the comments. Does anyone know if he later condemned them or expressed his support?

even though he was a yid he was a really good footy player in his time and a good manager ,but in some point he became a born again christian and i think his view was that disabled people are paying for there sins in another life ,i think he payed for his comments to be honest so best to leave the bloke alone ,no doubt he had these sort of views but i imagine the press made as much out of it as they could ,you should read his book meant to be really funny in a not laughing with him but at him kinda way hope this helped ya .

Hoddle came under fire after a disappointing start to the Euro 2000 qualifying campaign, and was sacked in February 1999 after he appeared in an interview with The Times newspaper where he suggested that disabled people were being punished for sins in a previous life. There was such an uproar, including intervention by Prime Minister Tony Blair, that the F.A. had little option but to terminate Hoddle's contract.

he was a bit of a tool

i nicked that from wikipedia, but you can find more here http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/world/news/1999/02/01/hoddle_suit/

"I do believe in reincarnation, but to say that I think the disabled are being punished could not be further from the truth.

"I am frustrated that my job is hanging in the balance because of the way an interview I gave was totally misconstrued and misunderstood."

He said "Disabled people were the victims of their own bad karma from a previous life"

The reason I remember it is because I am disabled myself but this is history and I think people should be able to forget about what he said, maybe not forgive but certainly foget. I would certainly welcome him if he became manager of my home town team rather than the useless so called manager that we have.
