or "their" and "there" and "they're".
or "right" and "write".

Is anyone else annoyed by this?

The constant misuse of "their","there" and "they're" really annoys me, too!!! Also, how about when people say something like: "They had a hard life," instead of "hard lives." Grrrrr! Or trying to sound smart by saying, "It was a great experience for Bob and I," instead of "me." Prepositions people!!!

I understand... :-(

Why stop there? The "your"/"you're" problem is rife. "To, too and two" are no picnic. And my personal favorite is "Its" possessive versus "It's" the contraction for "it is". Knew/new is becoming altogether too common a confusion. Then there are the more understandably confused, but still annoying word pairs that crop up in writing: "Discreet/Discrete", "Infer/Imply",
"Uninterested/Disinterested", etc.

OMG that annoys me incredibly. Especially when people use YOUR instead of YOU'RE. For some reason it just bugs the hell out of me.

I suppose it's because people who use the words wrongly don't get corrected by their peers because it would seem petty? Or nerdy? Whatever. It drives me crazy too.

That is because they sound the same. I think one should not be annoyed because it is just ignorance. What is so wrong with lacking knowledge? It is disadvantageous, of course, but it is not something wrong.
