The less you weigh, the greater your chance of finding out.

With technology today, they are able to tell as early as about 13-14 weeks. I found out when I was 14 weeks, and reconfirmed it at my 20 week ultrasound.

Though they say that you shoudl avoid caffine, a little bit of it is not harmful. About an hour brfore your appointment, drink a little caffine (soda, iced-t, etc.). The docs told me that up to 5 cans of soda, or 3 cups of coffee each day are TOTALLY safe during pregnancy. By drinking the caffine abotu an hour before your u/s appt....the baby will be moving around more form the stimulant, and it may be easier to see the sex of the baby (due to it moving often instead of sitting in one spot alot).

I did this at both of my ultrasounds, and teh docs and techs said that it was a good idea nd perfectly safe for me and the baby.

Congrats by the way. The ultrasound at 20 weeks (maybe this is the appt for you...only slightly earlier) is very cool...you see SO much of the baby...its quite amazing!

I'd say chances are good, but don't get your hopes up! Like others have said, it depends on the position of your baby. At 13 1/2 weeks I have my first ultrasound, and it was THEN that the Dr said he wasnt positive but thought we had a girl on her hands. She was moving around a lot and so we had a great look at her. At our next appt around 22 weeks, it was confirmed!

The chances of finding it is high... Recently one of my friend tried finding out the sex but the baby has moved over avoiding the ultrasound to detect the sex. That rarely happens..! good luck! you are gonna have a baby boy....! :-)

id say you have a good chance at finding out. as long as the baby is in the right position ,
Saying that who ever is doing your scan can try to encourage baby to move by poking it !!
make sure u eat plenty of sweet high caloried things before you go.
I'm having my sexing scan on Saturday and ill be 16 weeks 6 days Ive been told to drink coke, coffee eat chocolate and cakes to maximize baby's movements.

good luck

You should definitely be able to see what the baby is at 18 weeks. I am a Registered Radiology Technologist and 18-20 weeks is the preferred age that radiologist schedule an U/S to check fetus weight, growth, and sex. Congrats and good luck my wife and I are expecting also she is 14 weeks in.

You have a pretty good chance of finding out the sex. I guess now it just depends on whether the baby cooperates or not! Goodluck!!

I found out with both of my girls, but my friend just had hers and they coudnt tell because the baby was being stubborn. They told her she can not have another one. I would try to get the baby to move around before you go in that way it is not in one spot the whole time.
