Money because it can buy you power.

It seems to me that they go hand-in-hand: If you have money, you automatically have power. If you have power, it's because you have money. I don't know of anyone who has power, who does not also have money. However, I do know of some rare people who have money but don't seem to care for the power that they could have for the taking.

They are interchangeable... there are 3 components... money, power, and violence... apply a combination of any of these three in large enough quantities, and you get what you want...

Pay enough money to the right people, you win an election... get elected, make money for people as political capital... that doesn't work, then use political system to your advantage... can't be heard by your government, then take up arms against it... the changes from one to the other are endless, but they all boil down to these three in one form or another...

You are talking about 2 sides of the same coin (or actually in this case three), as they are all three the primary means of exerting influence on others to get what you want.
