hell no!!!!! that cute guy or girl they think they are talking to could very well be a sexual predator waiting to pounce. online dating is a risky proposition even for adults who have years of experience and knowledge under their belts. children do not possess the sophistication of thought to know when they are being lied to.

If the child (and you) physically know the person (like they live down the street or go to your kids' school) then it would probably be ok for them to date online. Anyone else, in any other category, I will say it's a very bad idea. To many young girls (and even boys) have been taken advantage of--or MUCH worse--through chatting and internet dating.

The 13 year old boy your talking to online could actually be a 60 year old pervert. Not safe. Stick to friends from school or social contacts. Good luck.

NO! I have a teenage daughter and I would never condone any on-line dating. Haven't you seen the Dateline shows with Chris Hanson? There are way too many weirdos out there that are preying on young girls and boys.

No, anyone could pretend they are 12 or 13, lure the child away from home and jack-bada-bing. Next time you see the child would be dead on the news being carried away on a guerney to the morgue, After they got raped, sodomized and beaten.
