Former Aboriginal Democrat Senator, Aden Ridgeway, is the host of ABC TV’s Message Stick program which commenced on 7th July 2006 . Aden is best known for being Australia’s second Indigenous Senator (6 years in the Australian Senate) and as a member of the Democrat Party (three years as Deputy Leader).
He replaced former Message Stick host, Rachael Maza.

Message Stick communicates the joys and challenges of contemporary Indigenous life, through profiles, comedies, culture and topical issues.

Aden Ridgeway has presented Message Stick TV on ABC2. The show is currently presented by acclaimed actress, Rachael Maza.

Message Stick TV is half hour magazine style TV program about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lifestyles and issues. It features profile stories, interviews, video clips and cooking segments and provides a slot where special half hour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander documentaries can be shown. It allows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to tell their stories in their own way.


Aden is from the Gumbayngirr people of northern New South Wales where he was born in 1962. After working in a variety of occupations, Aden became the second indigenous person elected to the Australian Federal Parliament in 1999
