I really don't think they've had a choice for a good while now. The people running this country are not the elected officials. We're obviously heading towards a "one world" government at the expense of freedom and the American worker. The brainwashed, media poisoned, financially drained and overworked American people will now accept treason from their government without blinking an eye.
An ALARMING portion of our population is in prison. Explains decent unemployment stats... The "elite" does not want to hire Americans until they will work as SLAVES like people from elsewhere. Better to keep them in prison at the expense of American taxpayers until that time (and that time is near).
This "elite" cares nothing about the USA, only the money. It is really starting to appear like an intentional collapse of the USA will take place shortly. A "going out of business" sale is going on if I ever saw one. America's wealth is being completely drained and put into the hands of a very few, while national security and welfare of the majority (working class) are being completely disregarded. All of the money and technology sent to potential enemies is obviously treasonous and suicidal to the USA. The "elite" wants to thin the herd a little and have a globally poor and weak working class that will use less resources and be easier to rule.
Much of America's infrustructure is now foreign-owned or not even on American soil where it could be put to use in case of war. "American" businesses paying taxes to foriegn governments and employing foreigners... Even roads paid for by taxpayers are being SOLD... WAKE UP AMERICA... IT'S TREASON!!!
I'm sure some very rich and powerful people are now running the USA by bribe or threat or both. I'm sure any high-up politician that somehow managed to get nominated without the help of this "elite", or otherwise refused to "play ball" wouldn't live very long and any lower politician who's policies became a problem would be dealt with one way or another. The USA has "law enforcement" agencies elected officials have little control over.

I don't think they are all corrupt, some will be as is always the case. The nature of the job means that they have to express their ideals in public and be prepared to be closely questioned on them, something that most of us are not required to do.
As can be seen on this site there are many views on all subjects so a politician is bound to upset some people with anything they say.
It is also the case that the higher up the ladder they get, the more in today's world, they put their lives at risk.
It is a career they have chosen and in most cases I believe chosen for the right reasons.

I don't think all politicians are corrupt... I do think that politicians are kind of like tools, rather than machinery...
People with corrupt agendas can corrupt politicians (some, I think unwittingly). I think this is the problem we're seeing with some PACs, perhaps...

I think they're just in the game to get the perks & benefits that come from being a politician. They don't really care about the greater populations - only their friends & others like them, it's all about protecting your own best interests.

Politicians of all parties are tempted by corruption because of power. It really has nothing to do with their party and everything to do with thinking they are entitled to do whatever they want because of power.
