Your question is vague, but I think you mean, why would an American like to discriminate.

Most of them do it out of ignorance, or because they were taught to discriminate... and some have had actual encounters (usually negative) with the race against which he/she is discriminating.

It is sad, and I'd say that most Americans do not like it and either don't or try not to discriminate if they can help themselves. We've found that a tolerant society is a nicer one in which to live... at least that is the attitude I experience in America.

Americans may think that the races who have darker color, have no power against them. In the past years, the races with darker color become slave of the white races. The White races make the life of black races have more burden. They beat them mercilessly. But nowadays, it is change. I am very thankful to that becasue for me, races are not use as measurement in a person's character and to the things he can do.

You have to qualify that question.
"Why does an American like racial discrimination?"....as long as it's not happening to him.

One word....insecurity.
