Hi, I live in Australia also.
Before I got married, I lived on my own and spent the following;

$150 per week on rent
$50 - $80 per week on groceries
$40 a week on petrol (I've got a small 4 cylinder car)
$50 - $75 a week for bills (electricity, phone, gas, water etc)
I generally spent around $50 a week on myself (going out, new clothes etc) and saved the rest of my pay, which usually ended up being around $150 - $200.
It really depends on where you are living, because rent, petrol and even groceries will differ from state to state, and depending on if you're in a city or country area!!

Good luck when you decide to move out on your own! It will be hard, but it's definately worth it for the freedom that you get not living with parents any more.

I live in Oz too I live as cheaply as possible. I try to cut every bill I can. If I can get a better deal on phones, etc I do. I take my lunch to work rather than buy it. I have foxtell, broadband and all mod cons at home. This makes home where I want to be and this again is cheaper than going out. I pay two mortgages, and pay up my credit card in full every fortnight. Every cent I have left goes on mortgage which saves me more money. Life is good because I have my own home and it is very comfortable.

i live in a 2 bedroom flat in a pretty high maintanence area.
Rent: - $842 per month
Gas & electricity: - average $25 per month
Phone: - average $50 per 3 months
Petrol: - $30 per week (dont drive to work, only drive when need to go out)
Spending: - i always jave at least $100
Food: - about $100 per week

plus i am saving for my wedding, so i live with my fiance who helps me pay for all this.

so do you have someone else to move out with, if so this will help you out heaps, but otherwise just look for somewhere cheap but still nice, maybe even somewhere where you can get to work easy enough without driving. also make sure your job is steady

Good Luck
