if you have 2 tvs, set your 1st choice of what tv to record to, to the tv you dont use as much. You can only watch live if is recording on the other TV. Such as a program is recording on tv2, and you are in the living room watching TV1 is okay. BUT... you CAN watch previously recorded programs on your DVR on the same tv that is recording the program, or you can just watch what is being recorded.... whew....

You need to have one of the newer boxes that has two inputs on it, so that you can record on one and watch on the other. They advertise it as being a box for 2 televisions, which you can use it for, or you can use it to watch and record at the same time.

don't know about dish net work but with direct tv i needed two separate cable lines to watch and record at the same time.

I know that on Cox you can but if you are recording two programs then you have to watch one or keep T.V turned off
