If he isn't, then why? His numbers are better than Troy Smith's and LSU will show the rest of the nation just how good/bad Chris Leak is Saturday.

SlimeyHick, I have no idea what all that jibberish is that you typed in. All I know is that Russell IS a better quarterback than Troy Smith.

Jamarcus Russell is pretty damn good, but so far isn't getting the recognition he deserves. LSU is a great team this year, and change a few plays and they would be top 3 for sure. To get all the Heisman consideration that Russell deserves, his team needs to finish high in the polls as well as putting up great stats. Garrett Wolfe will put up great stats, but Northern Illinois is from the MAC, and won't get any respect from voters when his opposition is the Big Ten's sloppy seconds. And Russell will put up stats as well, but unfortunately his team is in the SEC, which has some great teams that beat up on each other throughout the season. So that's how Russell will have to win it, getting his team to stand out with him and win the SEC. Just as Smith doesn't have to have the best stats as long as his team wins the Big Ten and stays #1.

The whole Heisman system is slightly flawed, but think of a better way of awarding it and make the voter's listen. Until then, prove you are the best by their standards.

That looks like a NO! LSU has no chance in hell at #1 or #2, maybe next year for you.

Those would be the Heisman standings and like the rest of the world I don't see Jamarcus Russell anywhere near it.

Not that I have heard of, no. Too many pre-set Heisman hopefulls for most outsiders out of what Hicks posted to get a chance.

If Russell keeps playing like he is now, he might have a shot.
