It sounds like a respiratory infection, you really need antibiotics from a vet to cure that. They can die from this if not treated. It doesn't usually cost much at all to take a small animal to the vet. The hamster couldn't have caught any sickness from you or your kids, so don't worry about that. It won't get better without treatment though.

if you arent able or willing to take it to a vet, you can buy hamster antibiotics at the pet store. Just ask for the wet tail medicine that you put in the water bottle.
also avoid playing with the hamster until it feels better. Petting it is okay, but if it's sick, it needs rest.
get some hamster nesting material from the pet store too so it can be nice and warm while it's sick.

not attempting to sound like a not common guy, yet concerning to the only time I cry is because of loss of life. I even tend to become extra pissed than dissatisfied over issues. i assume i'm an exceptionally stereotypical male in that regard. Did Incubus of absolutely everyone rather in simple terms call somebody else a sociopath and a psychopath?

Have you read up on hamster care in books? I read they can catch disease from humans. You have to be very careful with them. They can't take much abuse like dogs and cats might. When my hamster jumped over four feet to the floor he was sick for weeks. But, I let him sleep as much as he wanted and provided him the nicest foods. He gradually recovered. So maybe plenty of rest and good food would help your hamster recover from sickness.

Sounds like an internal injury. Possibly bleeding. Take the hamster to the Vet if it hasn't already died.

A fall can do a lot of damage to a hamster. I don't suppose you've thought of going to the vet?

well the drop could have done lots of internal damage. I suggest taking it to the vet as soon as u can. i have hamsters & they have escaped from their cages a few times from high shelves & one of them got broken ribs, & wasn't eating or anything & wasn't breathing well. so best bet is to take it in to be seen. take care

Listen carefully.... ..Some caring, clever, compassionate people study for approximately 5 years to become something known as a VETENARIAN. Yes you do have to pay for their services but hopefully they will fix your injured, poorly, starving, suffering little hamster. Good or what?!!!!!!!!!

your hampster should usually have a runny nose, but as for not eating, you probably dammaged her insides and its very likely that she will die very soon. you probably broke a rib or something i'm sorry, the same thing happened to me.
