So many are married and not in love. Or they loved at one time and now find the convenience of marriage to be greater than the desire to love. Is there anything wrong with starting out with no love but finding friendship instead? Should a person marry for friendship?

If I found someone with a lot of money, I would marry them in a heart beat despite what they looked like.

Happiness is being married to your best friend. Lovers can be the best of friends and the best of friends can be lovers. So its really dependant on the couple themselves and yes, a good friendship is the key to a happy marriage...love sometimes peters out and when there's no friendship to take its place...it usually ends up in divorce. I think friends should get married and most of them find that they've fallen in love with their spouses too, what's better than that?!

Dear yoyo,

I think friendship is key, but love makes things better.

Remember that love is an action verb. You can show love through affection and heart-felt care, but also through service, kindness, and simple listening. You can really show love to anyone.

The bigger issues here are whether two people are compatable. Do they like to be around each other, talk to each other, and do they want to spend their lives together following the same path.

Marriage is the best thing that could ever have been existed for those you willingly want to commit to each other. It is possible to be just friends, but love makes life a whole lot easier.

That depends on your needs you know best what works for you. Most people yes marry for love. But if companship is more important to you. or lets say you dont' like sex and you met a woman who doesn't like it either yet you both enjoy everything else then yeah do what works for you.. Your the one that has to be happy you and her not what the world thinks. Beside the world doesnt' have to know what you to do behind close doors.

absolutely not! this is what disturbs me about the time we live in.Nothing is kept sacred anymore.Marriage is supposed to be a sacred bond betwen two people that are in love and want to be together. Not because of convenience, but because of the unconditional love they have for each other.Marriage is a sacred bond not to be taken likely.I believe too many people take marriage lightly. This is why we have the statistics we have today. Please do not do this.

HELL NO! Marriage is a commitment based on love, not what you can get out of them. Don't BS your self. Great sex but no love leaves a broken marriage. Love and great sex make for a much better relationship, rich or poor.

love will come after marriage by being open to each other as friends.

yeah why not. i know plenty of people who are no longer in love, but have a good friendship and that's what keeps them together.

also i have friends who were arranged to be married and didn't even see each other until they got married, and they are still together. to them it's like a business contract where they agree to look after each other and their kids.

your husband/wife should be your best friend so you should marry for friendship but there should also be love and affection.
