I believe it is more likely that a positive test would come out negative incorrectly than for there to be a positive result when there really is no pregnancy.
If the test comes out positive I think you ought to assume the result is probably accurate. The manufacturers of the test stress in the directions how important it is to follow the directions exactly, but there's the chance there's the small amount of "flexibility" if someone does one thing wrong.
If you've gotten nothing but negative results you may want to double-check with a doctor before ruling out pregnancy. If you've gotten a positive result you have to see a doctor as soon as possible anyway, so you can do whatever you need to do and get good care.

It's highly unlikely to get a false positive, false neg yes but not positive. I would suggest to have a doctor confirm it either way. If you don't have insurance you can often go to a family planning office. They have free or cheap preg test (like $10). It's worth the piece of mind. It's important to know either way so you can adjust your life accordingly. Good Luck to which ever answer your hoping for!!!

Send him out to buy another test. Most likely you ARE pregnant, but try another one just in case. If you cannot afford to buy another test go to the $ store. They are still 99% accurate. I found out with one from there when I was only 3 weeks along.

Take another test and then if its positive go to the doctor so you can get this sorted. No need to let it stress you out

there can be a false negative but probably not a false positive.
the test detects the pregnancy hormone, which has nothing to do with the cap being on or off.
just take another test if you are not sure.

Take another pregnancy test without your boyfriend being present. If you are unsure how to read it, go to your physician and have the test run. Good luck to you!

uhhhh the cap has nothing to do with it. if you are sick and your breasts are tender you are pregnant and should go see a doctor. it doesn't really sound like this was planned but planned or not. you got 9 long months ahead of you. good luck.

Try taking the at home pregnancy test again. But for better more accurate results, go to your gynecologist and have him test you.
