If you are askibng a question this basic, you are unlikely to be able to build or troubleshoot your own computer. You might consider doing considerable study about computer componenets first, or ask a more computer-savvy friend to help you.

Also consider computer companies who will build to order, like Dell.

This is true even if you are buyiung a pre-built computer.

Get a computer with a fast processor. Fast is defined as 2.5Ghz. Or 1.6Ghz on a dual core machine (one with 2 processing chips, both of which will operate at that clock speed). RAM is just as important. Get at least 512 MB of RAM that is correct with the type on the motherboard. I recommend 1GB or more. If any of these terms I just said do not make sense, I do not recommend building your own computer. Buy one built (or customize it, which is sometimes also called "building")

Ok, I have been through this before and things change from week to week. The best thing I can tell you is to go to this web site and ask.

Start off with a 500W power supply.
At least 1000 megs of ram.

They have an 800 number.

If you are actually seriously considering this, give me an e-mail and I will help you, I have done this before. But I'm not just gonna post random stuff here because there is no one setup that is perfect for everyone, too many variables. I have done this before on here so I do know what I am doing. My e-mail is in my profile.
