and refuse to learn the language but expect the American gov't and citizens to cater to their every whim. and then it also makes me mad when people of Hispanic or African-American descent r allowed to get a free ride to any college they want and all some of the want to do is have babies and complain how hard their life is. i'm white and i'm proud of it but b/c of that i was denied scholorships event hough i was in the top 10% of my class. I was accepted to Rice University but i didn't qualify for the scholorship i asked for b/c of my skin color. my granfather was from Guatemala and he moved here b/c he wanted a better life. he learned english in two months from listening to the radio andwhenever he went into a store where they only knew spanish he refused to speak it back b/c he believed that if you live in this country you better learn the language, the same as anybody else would do if they moved to mexico or spain. btw if this makes me a racist to some ppl, then fine.

I agree with you 1,000,000,000% !! And there isn't a piece of us that's racist! We are American. We are citizens of this country. We all immigrated from other countries at some point in our heritage, but we respect where we live and aren't here to live off others and suck the life out of the rest. I don't even want them in our jails when they are caught. Don't come here to live off of us! I would never go to another country to spend time and not speak their language. That is tremendously disrespectful.

This is a good subject to put out there, especially including your background and your experience. You are not a racist, you are real.

No it doesn't make you a racist, just ill informed. First, people of Hispanic or African -American descent AREN'T allowed to get a free ride to any college they want. I often hear Caucasians make this comment but it isn't factual, just a fallacy or plain ol lies. Secondly, where did you get that all some of them want to do is have babies and complain? Did you read this somewhere or did someone tell you this? Or is it an assumption. People of all races have babies and complain about their lives.

Before you can get anywhere in life, you must stop blaming others. I would make the same statement to you regardless of your race. You only have control over your own destiny. Being in the top 10% of your class doesn't guarantee you a scholarship. Sounds like you have the "entitlement syndrome" you are accusing others of having. If you have a GPA of 4.0+, high SAT score, there are scholarships out there, just have to work hard to find them.

Besides there is nothing wrong with paying your own way. At least you got accepted to Rice, be thankful for that accomplishment. Get a student loan. Do whatever you can to be successful in life. Don't sit back and wait for someone to hand it over to you, go get it!

I gather you are angry I understand where you are coming from.
Today I saw something that kind made me upset also, I was driving to the store and saw this car with a mexico flag license plate on the front and WA state license plate on the back. I thought how dare they fly a Mexico Flag instead of an American, that this is my Country and they should show some respect while here.

So you touched on a topic which is near and not very dear to a lot of people. Hell yes they should learn English. When someone says press 1 for English, I can't tell you how angry I get. My grandmother came here from Poland, lived here almost 30 years and never learned English. For no other reason other than she just didn't want to. That was a pet peeve for me when I was growing up. We weren't taught Polish so we couldn't even talk with her. Didn't she even care enough to learn for us? I think it would benefit all of us to be able to speak more than one language but it should be the language of our choice. I chose French. Probably not a good idea now because had I known what was going to happen here with all the Mexicans, I would have learned Spanish. When we were in Cancun, my son and a girl disappeared, not together, at the resort. The girl's mother was speaking Spanish to the security guards and they could speak English, and I kept asking what was going on and they just ignored me and continued to talk to her in Spanish. I started looking in the pools, in the ocean etc because they were running around so fast and talking so fast, that I figured something bad must have happened. I finally went up to the front desk and was yelling at the top of my lungs for someone to please tell me what was going on. Well, they found the girl in some room and that was pretty much the end of it. I was livid. I started yelling at them because they knew English and chose to ignore it. Where was the help for me and my son? Did I find him? Yes. He was on another floor sitting on a bench. Their assumption was that my son had something to do with her daughters disappearance.
Oh man. You got me started. I'll shut up now.

I think most of the people coming are good hardworking people who are trying to make a better life for themselves. I can’t fault them for that. The problem is that the reason their country sucks so bad that they want to leave it is that it is full of Mexicans. When my country gets full of Mexicans it will suck too.

I also have to wonder why all these hardworking people don’t stay in Mexico and make it a better place to live.
