TERMINATOR 2 will never be surpassed. i was about 12 when i saw it at the cinema, and to this day, the effects always amaze me! and the chase....ah, great one in the 3rd installment too.
then, you get treats like THE BOURNE Identity& Supremacy that delivered brilliant scenes of fighting and chasing too. with no effects....

Hey, I loved Die Hard too! Willis kicked some serious German *ss (not that I have anything against them, they make great cars and beer). Who needs the FBI to fight terrorists when we can get an intrepid New York cop to do the job single-handedly?
If you liked Die Hard, you'll love Speed, which is my pick for best action movie ever. Described as 'Die Hard on Wheels', this hero protagonist (Keanu Reeves) is also one whom you'll doubt will make it to the end. But until he does, he and the pretty Sandra Bullock have to keep a city bus speeding through the gridlocked streets of LA above fifty miles an hour, or it will explode. Featuring the coolest screen villian (Dennis Hopper hamming it up, "Do not attempt to grow a brain!"), the most awesome action sequences, and very sweet romance between the gorgeous leads, this is one ride you'll want to relive over and over again! This is literally non-stop action.
"Pop quiz, hotshot. There's a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes above fifty miles an hour, the bomb is armed. Once it drops below fifty, it blows up. What do you do? What do you do?"
-Howard Payne, Speed

Die Hard was good, but my all-time favourites would be (1) "Aliens" and (2) Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in that awesome movie "Heat".
Can't wait until a Matthew Reilly book is made into a movie, though. That will kick some serious butt if it's made properly.

Die Hard was good. I like action with substance and a good plot, that's why Terminator (1984) comes to mind.

The recent Peter Jackson version of King Kong, the movie always has movement in it, almost non-stop action. And cool bugs too.

Steven Seagal did really good ones at the beginning of the nineties.
Classic like Bullit or the Dirty Harry movies are good too. Terminator 1 and 2, good ones too.
