ok I bought this awsome skirt last summer and I've only been able to wear it a couple of times because the fabric tears extremly easily AND the dye comes out when i wash it. Literally: when I put it in the water, the water turns DARK purple. ive only washed it 3 times and now it looks like ive washed hundreds of times. ANy Ideas?

ive tried vinagar(sp?) Believe it or not it made the color leech out FASTER than before.

i hand wash it with cold water, hardly any soap, hang dry. Color drips out with the water even while its drying...

i know this is long but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Google Dye Fixatives, they may help.

The type of Dye and the type of fabric will have a lot to do with whether a Dye will hold and not run or bleed. Some dye bleed with water while others will with solvents (dry cleaning).

adding a little salt to the water next time you wet it should help set the dye.
