This is just the difference of two squares (remember
x^2 - y^2 = (x+y)(x-y) ?).

(1-2i)^2 - (1+2i)^2 = (1-2i+1+2i)(1-2i-1-2i)
= (2)(-4i)
= -8i

First, we FOIL both terms.

(1 - 2i -2i + 4i^2) - (1 + 2i + 2i + 4i^2)

Then, substitute i^2 = -1.

(1 - 4i - 4) - (1 + 4i - 4)

Combine like terms.

(-3 - 4i) - (-3 + 4i)

Distribute the negative sign.

-3 - 4i + 3 - 4i

Combine like terms.

- 8i

(1-2i)^2-(1+2i)^2

(1-2i)(1-2i)-(1+2i))(1+2i)

1-2i-2i+4i - 1+2i+2i+4i

1-4i+4i - 1+4i+4i

1 - 1+8i

8i

i=8
