Ninety percent of people with hepatitis B recover. In up to10 percent of cases people infected with hepatitis B develop chronic hepatitis B and are infected for life.

There is no cure (hence no medicine) only a vaccine. People who do not recover from hepatitis B are called carriers. A carrier usually has no signs or symptoms of HBV, but remains infected with the virus for many years or a lifetime, and is capable of passing the disease onto others.
