Cracking your neck is not a good thing. You should get your spine checked by an orthopedic doctor. You could accidentally slip a disk and hit/pinch a nerve -- not a good thing because the worse thing that could happen is paralysis.

I found this article online:
If you often crack or pop your neck yourself, it probably means that the joints are hypermobile. The ligaments are a bit lax so the joints move a little more than they should. In response, the muscles tighten up to stabilize the joints. This makes your neck feel tight and makes you want to crack it. When you do that, the muscles are momentarily stretched, they relax somewhat, and you feel better for a while. But when you crack your neck you also stretch the loose ligaments further which makes the muscles tighten up again. It’s a vicious cycle.

My chiropractor instructed me portion of the reason my neck is out each and each of the time is because I easily have loosened the tendons and ligaments that carry the bones contained in the suited position. I easily have carried out it for years and he has worry adjusting my neck now. Stretching is fantastic yet do no longer stress it to crack. it could be form of addictive although. My suggestion is to get adjusted by skill of a specialist in the adventure that your neck is bothering you.

The noise you hear is in the ligaments not the bones. I've had it for 6 months. My chiropractor told me this. I have stretching exercises to do every day. If you are twisting your neck sideways with your hands, stop it. You can do major damage.

Oh yeah, totally bad. Let's look at it this way: anything you crack can loose feeling around it, and thinking about most people, and me, my spinal cord is in my neck, and I'd hate to mess that up. Go see a massage therapist or Doctor ASAP..

I do it too and I feel better. It is only air bubbles that are popping but it sounds like a crack. I do it for my back and knees too.

Probably, but who really knows. You should just stretch more often, it will probably help in the long run.
