Well, the way I see it, you are able to talk to store workers about something because they are there to serve you. They want your service. You are the customer. You bring the money. They want your money.
With potential friends, it is different. Why? Because you face the possibility for rejection. They could either be friendly back, or they could be snobs.
You've just got to adapt to rejection. I know that is easier said than done. Just try striking up a conversation. If they don't seem interested in talking to you, then maybe they're not someone that you should be friends with.
You could also try joining clubs or a sports team. Joining a sports team would probably be a good way of making new friends. Just stay positive!

okay first of all never go and say to some1 u wanna b friends? That just makes u look stupid. Instead try to look for some people by themselves and start a conversatin. A good starting line - hey man wassup u new to this school 2. And then ask him wut classes he has. If he ur type of person the conversation should flow from there. If he is not ur type and their is a awkward silence proceed to som1 else. always be confident and never b a poser.

join something! that way, there'll be people there who share ur intrests! as for actually making friends, just pick someone out and start talking! it doesn't matter if u sound stupid, u can actually make some really awesome friends like that! i speak from experience. at school, i'm shy and quiet and as a result have few friends, but outside of school i'm garrulous and chatty and i have soooooooooooo many friends, and it's really awesome! so just start talking, say hi, introduce urself, and ask a question. if nothing else u'll get some good conversation!

It's always hard to speak up because you may make a fool of yourself. If you can learn to laugh at yourself you'll find that everyone will think you're great. Everyone is new at some point. Just pretend that you're the hostess and be courteous, everything should work out great.

If you want new friends you have to take the first step and start a conversation, maybe start of with where do you come from or, I like your outfit, it's real simple and don't get discouraged. Keep your head up
