i did!
i had a life long phobia of driving
i always had nightmares when i was a small child that the person driving would disappear
i would wake up from these screaming and crying hysterically
i thought i would force my self out of it by taking drivers training in high school
i didnt
i did really poorly in drivers training
i almost crashed the car!
i gave up
for years i didnt try again
when i was thirty
and had three kids
i was sorts pushe into it by my husband
who said it was ridiculous to not have a drivers license at my age
and in LA no less
so he signed me up for driving lessons
fve hundred and thrity bucks and twelve driving lessons later
i still didnt have the hang of it
i was skittish behind the wheel
scared of the cars moving around me
and the parked ones to my right as well
pedestrians had me in tears
people pulling out of driveways could reduce me to jerky breaking
screaming
or even giving up entirely
i still diditn get a license
i kept driving with my husband though
because i ahd at least obtained the permit
my mother hung out with me during the weekdays
i drove ehr car every place we went
at her insistence
she thought it was lame too
that i didnt know how to drive
so i just kept driving
no matter how crazy it drove me
i kept trying
and one day my husband said
your permits gonna expire
it had been almost a year
he made the appointment for my drive test
i tried to conveniently "forget" about it
i tried to say i was late and i couldnt go
i treid everything to get out of it i could think of
but he dragged me
i took the test
there were mishaps
i took off at the start of the test with my e brake up
i turned too wide
i waited too long at a stop sign
but i passed
there were more mishaps
i drove into a wall
in my parking spot!
i knocked a sensor off the wall in my spot for the garage gate
i tapped a car in a parking lot
but i kept on driving
and now im not afraid of it anymore
sorry its such a long answer
but the point is
exposure is key
just keep driving
and youll get it
sooner or later

I had a phobia of driving for many years.I use to have nightmares that I was driving and I died in a car accident, but then I moved to a place where you really do need to be able to drive to get from a to b.,so I really had no choice to overcome my fears.I have been driving for for about 9 months.I still need a full license driver while I am driving, but that's o.k.When I first started driving I was a little embarrassed as most people on their L's(learners)where I live are 16 not 32 like I am.But because I am over 30.I don't have to be on my L's for 2 years, like a 16 year old would. You only have to have your L's for 3 months.Even though I am a pretty good driver,I still have a little fear of driving,so I won't go for my P's just yet.But with time I will.

try to find the cause. R u a victim of this phobia or you are just avoiding it. generally we learn cycling at a very young age because of the excitement and passion for learning. And this goes to another level after certain age that is learning to drive a motor bike or a car. Remember this happens at a very young age in teens or in adolescence. We are not bothered about those accidents or incidents we just enjy that new learning process. Yes after looking at the world with a much matured way we start thinking abt accident etc. Never mind communication and means of transport decides success. If you can manage this without driving than go ahead. Dont think that if you dont drive you are safe. Thse harsh drivers can get u anywhere.

I'm only 17 and I've been driving for 3 years. I know people who have fears because of horrible drivers. But wouldn't that be hard to get around? I've been in an accident, several times. Not even when I was driving. It happens. You can't stop it.

Yes, I do now but I didn't at one time. I was a traveling sales person and drove all over! Big cities like Kansas City, St Louis, Tulsa...then...I got sick and was not able to drive for 3 years. Now everytime I get behind the wheel I start sweating...totally scared to death! I only go on roads that aren't busy and when I need to go into town I just go to a smaller one that's nearby....it would be a lot closer to go to the larger one but too much traffic...I keep driving though. I want to overcome my fear because I know that the word F-E-A-R stands for
False Evidence Appearing Real... I think if I keep doing it I'll get back to normal.
