The only nation which colonized others to the benefit of that nation, were the English.
The French were cruel and the Spanish started a corporation called the catholic church which guaranteed that all future generations would live in poverty unless they were Spanish. The Germans didn't really do very much and the Boers created 300 years of racism.
The English created an efficient infrastructure which still works for the nations today, even if their latter day rulers are destroying our former colonies by corruption or hatred!
A good example is the gorilla which calls himself mugabe, destroying in a few years what used to be the bread basket of Africa.
