It seems to me that if they are going to be helpful to u, then they should, at the very least, practice what they preach...don't u think?

Three years ago, I would have said yes. But I believe a non married person may be skilled, educated and knowledgeable enough to provide proper counseling for a married couple. They also have the benefit of not having a bias to some of the traditional things a married person may have.

Absolutely! There are only a few pieces of advice he would be able to offer without some actual experience. He'd be like one of your single friends telling you to leave him over something that you may look back on and laugh at 10 years later. He would not be able to relate. Besides, marriage is something no one can understand until they have been in it, so YES he must have been married at least once to give good advice.

I think they should be.How can they give advice or know what youre feeling or talking about if theyre not married?I do think however they should be married to the same spouse for at least a decade to give advice though.

If I were going to see one I would want them to be not only married but happily married so they could really understand and not just tell me what they read out of a textbook.

It might help them to have a homebased reference to work from. But honestly, these people go to school to learn the proper counseling methods and their personal live is not the issue it is yours or who ever they are talking to.

No this is something they go to school for to learn. They learn all about how marriage is suppose to be. The spend alot of hard earned time for this.
