god i'm confused!to look at me you'd think i have some kind of hispanic in me my father is from Belize but i'm not sure if that technically makes me hispanic?!god someone sort this out for me pleaz!

Strictly speaking, no, you are not a Latina as your country has no linguistic or cultural ties to Latin America, only the geographical connection. (Same applies to Guyana, Suriname & The Falkland Islands.) Hispanic? Not at all, unless you do have at least some Spanish ancestry.

Hispanic is anyone who comes from a Spanish speaking community or country. Latina is someone that comes from a community or country whose language is derived from Latin (which includes Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and even French, there are others too). So being that in Belize the speak mostly English but also Spanish so i guess that makes you a of Latin and Hispanic heritage

Yes you are Latina since Belize was founded by Spaniards, and Hispanic means you are from Spanish descent, in Spanish when referring to Spain like "the Spanish nation" we say "la nacion Hispana" and the term comunidad hispano-americana refers to the Spain-America ( the continent from Mexico to the south not the U.S. ) community we also say Español or Hispano when referring to Spaniards, Belize originally belonged to Guatemala and was lost to England due to bad negotiation, their official language is English now

well, I have some friends from Belize and they are great people, they speak Spanish and some kinda English, I just have a party last Saturday and it was nice. Consider yourself Hispanic if you want to but, you do not have to that should not be a shame, follow your heart, express your feelings, and what your parents taught you.

You look like you have some hispanic in you because you are hispanic/latina. People from Belize are latinos. Some are black because they are ancestors of black slaves that the Spanish traded and sold.

If you want to be Hispanic call yourself hspanic. If not don't call yourself hispanic. You might have more opportunities for scholraships and grants if you are a minority.
