The union,who because of their factories, not only had the weapon advantage before the war,they would keep that edge all through the war...hope that helps

There was no Confederacy in 1860, the Confederacy was formed in February 1861, (Lincoln's inauguration was March 4th 1861). Before 1861 there were only small amounts of weapons located in Arsenals around the country. Once the war started, the arsenals in the south were taken over by the Confederacy and both sides began producing weapons in great amounts.

the union had more weapons. the north was industrialized unlike the south who relied on farming.

The north was better equipped but the southerns were better in tactics !
