Zip it up and turn it inside out. This will help with the color fade thing...also you don't have to wash it every single time you where it unless you sweat alot. When you go from washer to dryer, shake it out and make sure it's still inside out. Be diligent about getting it out of the dryer as soon as it's dry, turn it back right side out and hang it up. Also, use dryer sheets instead of liquid fabric softener in the washer. It prevents static clean...something sweats and sweaters are prone to.

Zip the sweatshirt, turn it completely inside out. Get a sturdy safety pin and pin together the sleeve ends. If there is a tie for the hood, use it. Use the gentle cycle on the washer, and although you can dry it til damp, don't completely dry it in the dryer. While still a teensy bit damp, turn right side out and hang dry for the remainder. That will also give you a chance to use a dryer sheet, one way to avoid the dreaded lint. And for heaven's sake, do not wash with any other lint-laden things!

First thing tie the string in the hood together ;) just throw one of those dryer sheets in when you dry it.
