My husband and I have been trying to get us a bigger home for over a year now. We have had many troubles and things in our way but now the only thing that seems to be in our way is our trailor loan. We just had our third child and so we're a little cramped but we can't get another loan for a descent home b/c by the time you add our other loans and such it puts us over the amount we can be in debt. So our only option if we want a place now is to sell our trailor that we live in now and try to find a place to rent. Or so was the plan but now my mom wants us to move in with my uncle who has had some surgeries and could use our help plus we wouldn't have to pay rent just help out with some of the bills. So that's what we are currently thinking of doing. what do You think? What would you chose to do?

If you like your uncle, then move in with him. Save money for a down payment and pay your loan down at the same time. Then maybe once your uncle is able to make it on his own you can buy the house you want. I would also put your trailer on the market to sale when you move out. Even if you can't get the whole amount you owe on it, you can pay it down a lot. Have you tried the section 8 housing in your area? I think it's also called HUD. They will help you if you qualify. When you move out of your trlr, you'll probably come across a lot of things you don't need. Then you can have a big yard sale and make more money to put toward your dream!!

it could help you guys out by helping your uncle as you can not only save more, but sell the trailer and bank everything to find the place you want. you can use some of the money to pay down the loans to bring you in range to buy the bigger home being in range of the 35 percent.

Moving in with family is never a good idea. They can always get mad and tell u to get out and then where will u be??Even if he does need ur help and is bedridden he could still make u get out. Check with the laws to see what he would or would not be able to do and then go from there. Although u seem to think everything is good it won't always be that way. I don't care what no one thinks we all get a sour grape at times.

I would go with staying with the guy, although I would make it clear at the beginning that it is only temporary. Renting is a pain in the butt, however it is difficult to afford a nice spacious place nowadays esp. since you are already behind, live with him til you can catch up then look for a bigger place.

Sounds like it could be a win-win situation as long as it doesn't stretch into too long of a time. You don't want your uncle to get too dependent on you or visa-versa. If it were me, I would definitely consider it.

Depends on how close you are to your uncle, how old your kids are, and how well his nerves will tolerate your kids. You said to help out because he's had surgeries, is he going to feel like having kids around?

Let me know where you live--there are programs out there that Will "lend you" 20% of the cost of the home--you don't have to pay back if you live there for 10 years!

Add to your details.

If you're facing moving in with a relative, better someone further out like an Uncle. Sounds like he'd welcome this too.
