I have had problems with my period ever since I started. I started at age 11 and tried so many things to help. I tried about 8 birth control pills and the shot. Do you have really heavy bleeding? I know that's really weird for me to ask LOL. Have they thought of the possibilty of endemetreosis? The only way that is picked up is by having a minor surgery called laparascopy where they will do a small incision by your beely button (for a camera) and possibly another small incision down below, but it's not far below, they only do the second incision if they see anything. When I had mine I had both done because I had backed up blood in my fallopian tubes that had to be drained. I would talk to your Dr. about that and see what they say. I apoligize for this being kind of graphic but just wanted to let you know about it. Hope this helps!

I had very long periods when I was younger, about 18. When I went to the Gyno, she put me on the pill and they began to get very normal and a lot shorter. I don't know if that might help you but I know when I am on any form of Birth Control my periods are much easier and last from 3-5 days.

Mine lasts for 5 days on the most. it does no longer run in my loved ones. My mum and my sister each and each have/had extremely lengthy heavy periods. My sister has continually had complications and it might want to bypass on for over 7 days, then now no longer come for some months after. So i do not evaluate it really is linked to inheritence. only fulfillment of the draw i guess.

This does not sound normal to me in any way. have you gotten a second opinion? I would and I would do it fast. If there is "nothing" wrong, see if the doc can put you on birth control pills. This has been known to shorten periods and help with the cramping as well.

1 1/2 weeks is okay to have your period lats, but 2? Not good . Just try and see what happens in the next two weeks and if it bothers you seek help from another doctor's opinion.

Maybe low iron or thyroid. Get your thyroid checked and also your iron levels. If you're thyroid is underactive, you could have hypothyroid. If your iron is low, you are probably anemic which is not a good thing.
