Well in a democracy, theoretically, the ppl are running the country coz its the ppl who elect the government. But then again, i don't think true democracy exists anywhere neither is it possible for it to exist. It's like the saying goes, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" and the government always has the last say in matters concerning every sector of society in the country.

We have been discussing this in my Political Theory class. In a Democracy, like the version we have, the people elect politicans and do what are in there best intrest. In other words, we make the government up. If the government does not do whats in our best intrest we have the right to vote certain members out. In a society as big as America, it is impossible for every one to fully run the country. We need to play a somewhat important role.
So we give the power to our government, and they run it in our best intrest.

The government. But the government are made up of 'the people' and are chosen by 'the people'. Is that hard to understand?

Neither. It's those overinflated corporations, questionable special interest groups, and corrupted lobbyists (i.e. the disgraced Jack Abramoff) that are running the country into the ground.

The people. The people control aprroximately $10 trillion per year, while the poor government is scraping by on approx $2.5 trillion per year. Generally speaking, the wealthier folks tend to make the rules.

Well, since the people we have elected are not listening to the people that elected them. I would say that the politicians in our government are. They have not listened on the issue of immigration have they? And countless other issues. Kennedy did not even vote on the fence issue. We need new people in these seats. All of them! Dem and Rep.They do not and have not listened to us in years. All they want to do argue with each other and nothing ever gets done! I am sick of it! Write to your representatives and tell them to shape up or we will get them out!
