Is the only way to find it, to know your multiples well?? Or is there some other way to find it??

to put it in the simplest terms possible you break you number down into prime factors. then depending on your index (in a square root problem it is 2) you find two prime factors that are the same and get them out. so 36=3*3*2*2 so you can take a 3 and a 2 out because the index of a square root problem is two. then you multiply the terms together and 3*2=6 thus you have another way to solve radicals.

There are a number of ways to find the square root of a number, depending on the resources at hand. You can use a calculator that has a square-root key. On a calculator without such a key, you can make a guess and then adjust your answer. (You can guess 5. Then divide 5 into 36 to see how close you are. You get 7.2. You now know the correct root is between 5 and 7.2. You can try 6.1 as your next guess. Divide that into 36, and so on.)

There is even a method of hand calculation that can be used.

factorize first and then see if the factors are paired.

for example 36 = 2*2*3*3. a pair of 2 and a pair of 3. re-write = 2*3 X 2*3 = 6 X 6. this is the square root.

you could divide 36 by things you know have a square root, like 4. divide 36 by 4 and you get 9. so you know that the square root of 36 equals 2 times the square root of nine. then, you must know that the square root of 9 is three. therefore, the square root of 36 is 2*3=6.

you can go for:
1+3+5+7+9+11=36
when you add this six odd nos.you get the squareroot of the result i.e. six comes as the answer as you have added six nos.

now if for "25"
then try and add 5 nos and that will give u 25 and thus 5 is the sqroot of 25.
