I dont get how...

√16x2 = 4√2i

Why does the two go behind th root sign ??

Yah, I meant square root(16x2) x √-1

I think that in your case the first two would be negative, making the the actual problem, split apart more like this.

Square(16) X Square(-2)=4 square(2i)

You can take the square of sixteen, 4, four but you can not get the square of a negative number like negative two.
Therefore, the only substitute would be an imaginary number, i. This number equals (square(-1))

Put in what you know

4 x square(-2)= 4 square (2i)

Take in what i just said about the imaginary number.

4square(2i) = 4square(2i)

The original problem probably asks for

sqrt(16x2)

Is that correct?

sqrt(16x2) = sqrt(16)xsqrt(2)

16x2=32
square root 32=4 s.r. 2i
im stumped
