My grandmother passed away this past Feb. and I had the honor of helping pick out the songs. They were:

1. Where eyes Don't Cry- Karen Peck
2. Wish you were Here- The Kingsmen
3.Midnight Cry- Gold City
4. Sweet, Sweet Spirit
5.Serenaded By Angels- Kirk Talley
6.I sure Miss you- The Crabb Family.
But of Course I have some more favorites- I'll Rise Again and Amazing Grace.

Pop music seems too cheesy for a funeral. "How Great Thou Art" was played at my grandfather's funeral many years ago and it was the first time I ever really listened to the words of the song and they struck me so deeply at that point that every time I hear that hymn--and it's been over 25 years ago--I feel choked up. Because I knew he'd requested that song to be played at his funeral and instantly knew what the words meant to him. I never liked that song until then and since that day it has been my favorite hymn. So, I guess you could say my grandfather sent a powerful message to me that day.
