Closing price on December 30, 2005 was 10,717.50
Today's closing price (also all tiem high) was 11,727.34

That is an increase of 1,009.84 points or 9.4%. Annualized this would be approximately 12.5%.

do it yourself by finding the price of the market that you want to know for the dates of Jan 1 and todays close
today-Jan 1 price/Jan 1 price
difference/ start price = % change
